Our
big trucks! We were met by these beats at the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky
airport in Elizovo. |

After
separating our luggage for the field and the conference
some of us attended, we were shutteled off for a small
lunch and to purchase water. This was some of the entertainment
driving down the streets. |

We
drove in as far as our drivers were willing, and hiked
in the rest of the day. Despite the lack of water, food
and sleep, it was still a beautiful hike. |

The
trucks stopped because of soft ground and snow cover,
which means yes, we were hiking on snow most of the
way. |
