Break
1! Hiking up the back side (which is actually West)
of Mutnovsky. |
|
Climbing
up a face of rubble and snow to reach the West side
of Mutnovsky. |
|
And
we're still climbing up a face of rubble and snow to
reach the West side of Mutnovsky. |
|
A
good spot to eat luch, on the ridge edge, in preparation
to hike around and down the West side of Mutnovsky. |
| |
Pooped!
At the top of Mutnovsky Crater 2 we listen to lectures,
and/or take a nap. |
|
View
toward Crater 4 of Mutnovsky (the one with the fumes
coming out), while looking over at Crater 2. |
| |
|
Dr.
John Eichelberger taking it all in, overlooking Crater
2 of Mutnovsky. |
|
| The
field school over looking Crater 2 of Mutnovsky, in
awe no doubt. |
|
Can
you see them the tiny little hikers taking the route
we took to get to Mytnovesy Cratrs floor? |
|
Hi
dad. |
|
Hi
Lauren and Eric. |
|
Dr.
Eichelberger and his trusty portable dry-erase boards!
|
|
Down
we go! We crested the top of that big outcrop and heading
straight down the snow! |
|
See,
wheeee! In the distance, to the right, is Viluchinsky
volcano. I saw it's other side from the city of Petropavolosk
later in the trip. |
|
Sometimes
there wasn't enough snow, or if you were less graceful
on ski slopes, like me, you prefered rock, to side-step
your way down. |
|
Dr.
Eichelberger giving us a lecture, without the dry-erase
boards!
